Research by David Nusbaum (david.nusbaum@crain.com). | New York area includes New York City and Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties in New York and Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Union counties in New Jersey. To qualify for this list, firms must have a New York-area office. Crain’s uses staff research, extensive surveys and the most current references available to produce its lists, but there is no guarantee that these listings are complete. In cases of ties, firms are listed alphabetically. N/A – Not available e. Crain’s estimate.
I’ve always been a stickler for fact-based information. In the New York market, many commercial real estate firms market themselves as “leading,” “top,” or “premier.” While a broker at a boutique firm may be experienced, I believe it is essential for professionals to accurately represent the scale of their platform.
When a firm with five or fewer brokers claims to be consistently ranked as a “top firm” in NYC, it’s worth asking what that ranking is actually based on.
To provide some transparency, I’ve included an accurately researched list published annually by Crain’s New York Business. This ranking is based solely on the objective number of brokers operating at each firm. If you’d like to discuss the tangible advantages of partnering with a global, market-leading platform, I would be delighted to connect.

As a commercial real estate broker specializing in all facets of office leasing for over 30 years, I’m also a proud native New Yorker with a deep love for this city. My commitment to my community is reflected in my founding of two real estate charity events and consistent involvement in professional organizations. Outside of work, I enjoy live music, movies, basketball, tennis, podcasts, and a continuous pursuit of knowledge, especially regarding history and the fascinating story of New York.
